I started this sculpture in the summer of 1995. I'd done a lot of research into sculpting methods and decided that the only way to test them was to dive in and do something extravagant.
The only preparation I'd done was some top, side and forward elevations on a few sheets of A4. I could have spent weeks detailing the designs, but I decided the only way understand what was required and to keep up the enthusiasm for what would undoubtedly be a long term project would be to get on with it.
