Title: Lupine Sculpture 5
Date: 1995
Method: Wood and wire
Description: The plinth was constructed from coarse chipboard edged with oak.
The sculpture was fixed to the base at one hand and both feet with steel brackets bent to fit. The sculpture's hands were quite fiddley so I put those together separately and wired them in at this point. To make sure the plaster would adhere to the base I tacked more wire mesh to the wood so that when the plaster was applied it would set around the mesh and be held in place by it while it dried. The sculpture was fixed to the base at one hand and both feet with steel brackets bent to fit.

The first layer of plaster was just a cheap, low-grade decorator's type from a hardware superstore.
