Title: Rilla Sculpture 2

Date: 1997

Method: Steel and Copper Wire

Description: Achieving symmetry was probably the hardest part.

For the long gentle curves the steel wire could be shaped by hand, but for the tighter turns the pliers had to be used. For the body it simply required a good eye and spatial awareness. For the wings I made a drawing to scale, traced it through to the other side of the paper to reverse it and then shaped the wire against the drawing. The steel wire is held together with coils of copper wire that could be easily loosened and tightened for adjustment with the two pliers.
